I think its sad how we define a persons value . . . Alot of people think of this in terms of the picton trial, I think about it in terms of K (initials used to protect privacy) When I was in grade 10 K joined our class she had just moved from the city and we bonded over mutual friends etc. She was an AMAZING person feisty, caring, smart and just alla round awsome. K was also troubled the reason she moved from the city was because of problems with drugs etc, This never meant anything to me, To me she was just K.
K left our class abrubtly, Later we found out it was because she ran away I didnt stp thinking about her but I juat assumed she was fine. That summer I had just gotten back from camp and fell asleep on the couch. The next morning my mom woke me up and asked if I knew a girl named K I was groggy and said yes without placing the name. However I woke up and asked why. Att his point my mom explained to me that they had identified her as the dead girl who was found dead in a park. I was shocked to shocked to comprehend here was this amazing girl dead at 15 her body found discarded like a peice of garbage.
K was not a bad person in any means at 15 you havnt had a chance to be bad she had barely started living her life by the time it was taken away from her. Sure she made mistakes she did run away she did do drugs and there were rumors of her prostituting herself. But why should that matter???? I dont care what she did I would have done anythign to help her . . . But it dosnt change anything. She was a person a friend daughter neice grand daughter just like me just like you. So why should her death mean any less?
Ks death was not treated unfairly, because of her age there was media coverage etc so this probally isnt they best example. I just dont think its right to judge someone or feel that they as people are less valuble because they are just as valuble as anyone else.
My little sister is a Zombie in a body with no soul
A role she has learned to play in a world today
where nothing else matters
But it matters, we gotta start feeding our souls
Hey little sister I heard you went to Mr. So and So
Knock, knock, knockin' on his door again last night
Said you needed more
Little Sister~Jewel
